Continuing education is not a question of age

From 22.-25. May 2023 the eighth and thus last module of the Seniors’ UNI took place. A varied program was put together again: The seniors had a day of communication and presentation training and immersed themselves in the topics of regional development and management in the context of digitization. There was also an excursion to St. Pölten and the participants presented their theses.

The fourth round of the course also produced numerous innovative projects that were valuable for the common good. This also includes the idea of “exercise in old age – gymnastics while sitting or standing”, which is already being implemented on an ongoing basis. The senior university started in 2012 and is funded by the state of Lower Austria.

Successful graduation

As the crowning glory of the module, the graduation from the Seniors’ UNI took place on Friday, May 26, 2023, in the presence of State Councilor Teschl-Hofmeister. 33 participants were able to complete the course by submitting a project work in the voluntary sector and thus obtain the title “Senior Expert”.

“I am extremely pleased and proud to have 35 new “Senior Experts” in Lower Austria. The thirst for knowledge and the curiosity of the seniors inspires me. The desire for new knowledge and the willingness for lifelong learning keep you young. In this 3rd course, voluntary commitment was the focus. This was important to us because the older generation in particular makes a significant contribution to shaping cross-generational coexistence in a community. The openness to new knowledge and the willingness to pass on one’s own knowledge and experiences to the younger generations are very valuable for a community”.said State Councilor Teschl-Hofmeister.
