At the end of the year, the town of Bélarga was the scene of a culinary initiative aimed at promoting health prevention for seniors. Organized by the Roul’Contact social life space, under the leadership of the facilitator Florence Cros, and the dietitian nutritionist Aurore Christmann from the Paulhan medical office, these workshops were a great success, supported by the Multi-professional Health Center ( MSP) Val d’Hérault, the municipality of Bélarga.
On November 1 and December 8, a warm group of 6 to 7 people aged over 60, including several Belargan women, converged on the Bélarga village hall. It was an opportunity for these seniors to get together and participate in cooking workshops rich in flavors and sharing.
The start of the sessions was marked by a friendly welcome period followed by a detailed presentation of the day’s recipes. Under the careful supervision of the facilitators and the participants themselves, the seniors put their hands together to concoct a variety of tempting dishes. Leek fondue, rice pilaf, autumn salad, egg casserole, hummus, pumpkin velouté, apple pie, fruit chaplains… a true symphony of new flavors to discover!
After the effort, the comfort: everyone had the pleasure of tasting the delicacies prepared together during a convivial meal, thus strengthening social bonds and the pleasure of sharing a moment around a table.
These workshops were much more than just cooking classes. They offered a platform conducive to meeting, exchanging tips, recipes, nutritional and dietary information, techniques and ideas. A golden opportunity to put pleasure and conviviality back at the heart of the cuisine of enthusiastic seniors who took full advantage of this experience.
Facilitators and participants share the same desire to repeat this experience in 2024.
