LR Teschl-Hofmeister: Sport and exercise are also important in old age to stay fit
St. Pölten (OTS) – In November the senior athletes of the year were announced. After Wolfgang Rezek was unable to be personally present at the big celebration, Senior State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister presented him with the trophy in the “National Male” category personally in St. Pölten this week. “Mental and physical fitness are important in order to be able to lead a self-determined life even in old age. Therefore, regular exercise and sporting activity are important, even – or especially – in old age. I have great respect for the achievements of Wolfgang Rezek, who is a role model for the seniors in Lower Austria,” congratulated Teschl-Hofmeister.
Rezek is the reigning Lower Austrian state champion in cross-country skiing in the age group born between 1958 and 1962. His marathon best time dates back to 1993 and is 2:52:29. Also in 1993, the former Ironman World Championship participant set his personal Ironman best time of 9:54:14.
