(APS) – Senegal, through its Minister in charge of Senegalese Abroad, Annette Seck Ndiaye, reiterated, Friday, its commitment to promoting a common African position on a certain number of subjects and to accentuating advocacy in favor of better representation of the continent in decision-making circles around the world.

”Senegal reiterates its commitment to promoting the common African position and continuing its advocacy for an Africa better represented in decision-making circles, as is the case today with the accession of the African Union (AU) to the G20”, she declared in particular.

She spoke on behalf of the Senegalese head of state at the 5th consultative summit of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Government of the African Union on the reform of the United Nations Security Council. The meeting was organized in Oyala, Equatorial Guinea.

In her speech, a copy of which reached the Senegalese Press Agency, Annette Seck Ndiaye, reaffirmed the particular interest that President Macky Sall places in the reform of global governance, particularly that of the United Nations Security Council. a prominent place.

”Senegal remains fundamentally convinced that the success of the process is a sine qua non condition for replacing fair and equitable global governance with the current international system,” once once more clarified Annette Seck Ndiaye.

She insisted on the fact that the success of this reform of global governance fundamentally depended on the imperative to repair the historical injustice done to Africa, the only continent absent from the category of permanent members and under-represented in that of non-permanent members, despite its central place in the Council’s agenda.

”Senegal’s benchmark remains the Common African Position (CAP), formulated in the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration, by which Africa demands two seats of permanent members, with right of veto, if this is maintained, and two additional non-permanent seats for any new configuration of the Security Council,” recalled the minister in charge of Senegalese abroad.
