As part of the preparation for the second qualifying round for the Morocco 2024 women’s CAN, Senegal and Tunisia faced each other in a friendly match on Friday at the Ariana municipal stadium in Tunis. The Lionesses won 0-2, while waiting for the second round next week, still on Tunisian soil.
Exempted from the second round of qualifying for Olympic Games
– tour having started Wednesday and ending next Tuesday October 31 – following the withdrawal of Ivory Coast, Tunisia received Senegal, for its part not involved in these qualifiers. The least we can say is that there was no photo between the two quarter-finalists of the last CAN. Because the Senegalese, who presented themselves with their eleven type and the defender Noélie Mendy holder for her first selection, generally mastered the meeting. Mama Diop, author of the opener (0-1, 15th) quickly outlined the outcome of the match, before Coumba Sylla Mbodji sealed the fate of the Tunisians on the hour mark with the break goal.
One absent for the return match
The “return match” will take place next Tuesday, still in Tunisia. However, it will be without the Senegalese Anta Dembélé, since the latter was sent off at the end of the match. This will be the last preparation match, for both sides, before the second round of the qualifiers for the CAN 2024 in November. The Lionesses will challenge Egypt while the Eagles will face Congo.

Like Senegal which lost to Zambia (1-1, 4-2 following tab), Tunisia is already keen to do better than in 2022 where it stopped in the quarter-finals of the CAN (beaten 1-0 by the future champion, South Africa).
