65 religious teachers were sent to their service.
“Live and proclaim the Gospel of Christ in word and deed,” Cardinal Christoph Schönborn asked the religious teachers and everyone present in St. Stephen’s Cathedral.
In a solemn mass on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn and Episcopal Vicar Dariusz Schutzki sent 65 religious teachers who have been teaching for several years for their service. “Live and proclaim the Gospel of Christ in word and deed,” Cardinal Schönborn asked those present.
Before the service, the religious teachers of the first and second year of service were able to sign the Gospel book as a sign of their willingness to proclaim the word of God.
In his sermon, Cardinal Schönborn gave the missionary candidates the message that it is completely normal to be disappointed again and again in the profession, but: “there is the experience that the fire of faith is ignited. May you be confident that the wisdom of God will prevail.”
After the sermon, the religious teachers received an individual broadcast from Cardinal Schönborn and Episcopal Vicar Schutzki. The respective specialist inspectors handed over the decree. Meanwhile, the project choir sang the appropriate song “Here I am Lord”.
School district director Andrea Pinz shared the following thoughts with the young teachers: “It is not the most sophisticated worksheet that will be remembered by the young people, but it is you who, as authentic witnesses of the faith, become ambassadors for our subject.”
The musical design was carried out by cathedral organist Ernst Wally and a project choir consisting of: teachers from the Archdiocese of Vienna, the sister choir “Lebenszeichen” and the choir “Mater Salvatoris” – students and friends of the diocesan conservatory.
A particularly moving moment was the blessing of everyone present by the religious teachers.
