The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 6th that, as delivery volume is expected to surge during the Lunar New Year peak season, it will operate for four weeks from the 9th to the 4th of next month as a “special delivery management period” and add temporary workers to the delivery logistics site.
First of all, 6,000 temporary workers, such as loading and unloading couriers and delivery assistants, will be put into the delivery field in preparation for an explosive increase in delivery volume. The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs predicted that deliveries would increase by 8-25% during this period compared to normal times.
In addition, by restricting the collection of delivery items by major courier operators two days before the Lunar New Year holiday, most courier drivers will be guaranteed a four-day holiday (21-24) during this year’s Lunar New Year holiday.
In addition, in order to prevent overwork by courier drivers, it has been decided not to hold the driver accountable even if delivery is partially delayed due to a surge in volume during the period. .
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs also asked local governments and public institutions, which have many orders for holiday products, to distribute their shipments by encouraging ‘pre-orders’ to prevent couriers from being crowded at certain times.
Koo Hyun-sang, Director General of Logistics Policy, asked, “Please actively participate in the ‘pre-order’ delivery before the Lunar New Year, and kindly understand if there are some delays in delivery of goods.”
