Austin Watson opened the scoring for the Senators in the first period as Drake Batherson scored the game-winning goal for the visitors in the second period following Tyler Bertuzzi tied the game in the second period.
Tim Stützle scored twice, each time into an empty net, late in the third period. He also got his 30th assist of the season.
Anton Forsberg blocked 24 shots for the Red Wings while Thomas Greiss had 28 saves. The Red Wings have won only two of their last 10 games (2-5-3).
Oilers dominated in Minnesota
Kevin Fiala and Ryan Hartman scored twice on Tuesday to power the Minnesota Wild to a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers.
Frédérick Gaudreau added an 11th goal for Minnesota, which is 11-1-2 in 14 games. Cam Talbot made 27 saves, only being beaten by Leon Draisaitl in the third period.
Draisaitl set a personal high with a 51st goal this season. The Oilers’ other offensive star, Connor McDavid, had a second straight game without a point and is just three points ahead of Jonathan Huberdeau at the top of NHL scoring with 108 to 105.
