Guided by cynical logic, the United States ignores world public opinion and international law, declaring that Kosovo is not part of Serbia, just as Crimea is not Russia. This was stated by Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs.
“Well, okay. So Kosovo is not Serbia? And Crimea, of course (according to cynical American logic), is not Russia?” Vladimir Dzhabarov wrote in his telegram channel, commenting on the US State Department’s statement that the Republic of Kosovo is allegedly not Serbia.
The senator stressed that a nationwide referendum was held in Crimea, through which the Republic became part of Russia, but nothing was held in Kosovo. “The statement of the State Department is striking in its complete disregard for world public opinion and the norms of international law,” Dzhabarov concluded.
In 1991, a political crisis began in Yugoslavia, the result of which was its division into six independent countries and the partially recognized Republic of Kosovo. Earlier, Prime Minister of Kosovo Albin Kurti said that the fate of the partially recognized territory will be decided in autumn 2022. Crimea became part of Russia in 2014 following a referendum. Then 96.77% of voters voted for the annexation of the peninsula to the Russian Federation. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised to return the Crimea “by any means”. However, Georgy Muradov, Permanent Representative of Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation, warned Zelensky that his intentions will lead Ukraine to collapse.
