A busy day was experienced this Wednesday in Congress and among fuel consumersfollowing being informed a new rise in the value of gasolinewhich will be damped by the Mepco.

This was ratified this Wednesday from Valparaíso, where the Senate approved a new limit for the Fuel Price Stabilization Mechanism (Mepco), which will go from US$ 750 million to US$ 1,500 million.

The initiative was unanimously approved (46 votes) and in general by the Senate Chamber and was ready to become law, seeking stop the uncontrollable rise that fuels have had during the last 31 weeks.

The negotiation to expand the Mepco

It should be remembered that last Monday the measure was widely discussed by the political committee of the Governmentreason why the followingnoon of that same day entered the proposal with immediate discussion to the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies.

It was in January of this year, under the administration of Sebastián Piñerawhere a new increase had been approved to control the rise, this time being a change from US$500 million to US$750 million.

During this Wednesday, the National Oil Company (ENAP) reported that fuel prices will rise once more in the country from this Thursday.

Indeed, 93 and 97 octane gasoline will have an increase of 6.7 per liter in its value. The dieselmeanwhile, will also have an aggregate of 6.7 pesos per liter.

Finally, the vehicular liquefied gas, LPGget on 6.7 pesos per liter. The new value of fuels will run from this Thursday, March 24 to Wednesday, March 30.
