Asunción, IP Agency.- A shipment of 595 kilos of pressed marijuana of different varieties was seized by special agents from the Anti-Drug Investigations Directorate of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat, together with the Regional Department No. 2 of Ciudad del Este.
It was during an operation led by prosecutors Ingrid Cubilla and Elvio Aguilera, in a house located at km 16 of Minga Guazú, department of Alto Paraná.
At the site they found almost 600 kilos of traditional pressed marijuana and the so-called Skunk and Moroccan varieties of the herb, hidden in a warehouse. Rafael Junio Jara Dávalos, a 27-year-old Paraguayan, was also arrested.
The detainee and the seized evidence were made available to the Public Ministry.
Skunk marijuana variety
This variety grows rapidly with controlled climate and humidity that generate a higher concentration of THC (psychoactive component) that reaches 35% compared to traditional marijuana, whose concentration ranges between 2 and 7%. Its price in the region is around 4 and 9 million guaraníes per kilo, reports the Senad.
Moroccan marijuana
Senad highlights that it is in the form of wax and its production requires a cold filtering process to obtain a higher concentration of THC (psychoactive component) and sometimes specific adulterants are added. Its value ranges between 5 and 10 million guaraníes per kilogram, details the institution.
