Senad arrives in Boquerón with a preventive agenda on the use of psychoactive substances

Asuncion, IP Agency.- As part of its task of preventing the use of psychoactive substances in the community, the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) held 12 training and awareness workshops, with the participation of 740 people from the department of Boquerón, Paraguayan Chaco.

Among those 740 people who attended were teachers, parents, community leaders, health personnel, law enforcement, white-collar professionals, officials from private entities and non-profit organizations.

The General Directorate of Demand Reduction of Senad developed a preventive agenda for drug use in the districts of Neuland and Filadelfia, as part of its actions in the SUMAR plan implemented by the Government of Paraguay.

This also fulfils the motto “The evidence is clear: we must invest in prevention”, established by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the International Day once morest Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2024.

Citizen participation helps to multiply actions

The participation of all actors in society increases the preventive culture and these actions have a high impact in order to prevent the problem from advancing within society.

The activities began in the Neuland Colony, in coordination with the Neuland Multi-Active Cooperative, through five awareness-raising days focused on promoting the implementation of prevention programs in the workplace, education, family and community.

The number of participants reached 124, which means that the population indirectly benefited would reach regarding 370 people, through the application of the programs.

Seven training sessions were held in Philadelphia, with 616 participants, which translates to approximately 2,086 people, indirectly.
