The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that there were income cuts made by suspects in the alleged corruption case in the Semarang City Government (Pemkot). The cuts were made to the collection money quota and were confirmed to be not in accordance with applicable regulations.

“There are allegations of deductions from the employees’ wage quotas, so that the take-home pay received by the employees is reduced from what they should receive,” said KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, yesterday.

Tessa has not been able to detail the total amount of the fund cuts that were made. Until now, investigators are still investigating. “Can’t be conveyed (the total cuts),” said Tessa.

The KPK conducted a marathon search of 66 locations related to the alleged corruption case in the Semarang City Government. Investigators seized documents, electronic evidence, up to Rp1 billion and EUR9,650.

There are three alleged corruption cases being investigated by the KPK in Semarang. The cases are alleged bribery in the procurement of goods and services, extortion of civil servants over the collection of regional taxes and levies, and the receipt of gratuities.

Based on the information gathered, they are the Mayor of Semarang Hevearita Gunaryanti Rahayu, Hevearita’s husband, Alwin Basri, the Chairman of Gapensi Martono, and the private sector Rahmat U Djangkar. (P-2)
