Sell ​​medicines at original price or shop will be closed: Ministry of Health

Pakistan Federal Ministry of health has announced that at the original cost Medicines Action will be taken against non-selling shopkeepers and such shops will be sealed.

Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Sajid Hussain Shah, while talking to Independent Urdu, said on Monday that ‘a crackdown is going on against those who sell fake medicines and profiteers on the instructions of the caretaker health minister, Nadeem Jan.’

According to him, ‘Drap is raiding distributors, pharmacies and medical stores in all major cities of the country.’

He said that ‘Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan’s team in Karachi has sealed pharmacies and medical stores selling expensive medicines in different areas.’

According to the spokesman, during the raids, “it came to light that heparin injection was being sold at more than the approved price, heparin injection was being sold for 3500 rupees instead of 800.”

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health further said that ‘Tramal injection, Augmentin DS suspension, Hydralin syrup were also being sold at high prices. Ventolin inhaler, Tegral tablets, Augmentin DS were also being sold at high prices.’

According to him, ‘Drap’s team seized all these medicines and sealed the pharmacies. The process of legal action was initiated against the pharmacy owners under Drape Act.

According to him, “During the operation in Lahore, major action was taken against those selling drugs at more than the approved price, in which heparin injection, TB, epilepsy, cancer and life-saving drugs were being sold black. These drugs were approved.” They were being sold at a higher price than the agreed price.

On the other hand, Chief Drug Inspector Sindh Hafeez Tanio told Independent Urdu that ‘fake drugs and profiteers are being cracked down on. The crackdown that was carried out yesterday has been done on the instructions of the Federal Ministry of Health.

According to him, we have not yet received his report, but the cases are going on in the drug court and the cases of hardship are also going on. The decision of which has not come yet and the High Court has also directed the DRAP because price increase and manufacturing and registration are the three subjects which the federation looks after.
