The Selection Committee (Pansel) confirmed that there will be no extension of the registration period for prospective leaders (capim) and supervisory board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The registration period will end today.

“There is no extension,” said the Head of the KPK Capim and Supervisory Board Selection Committee, Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, when contacted, Monday (15/7).

Previously, the issue of adding registration time received attention from several parties. Former KPK investigator Yudi Purnomo Harahap considered it unnecessary.

“I think, if you look at the number of applicants, there is no need to extend it,” said Yudi.

Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman also has a similar view. According to him, the extension period is useless.

Boyamin views that the KPK capim selection committee and Dewas are not independent. This factor also makes the number of applicants not many.

“As long as the Selection Committee does not declare independence, there is no point in extending it. Because good people will never want to register. Because they are sure that they will lose to people who are entrusted,” said Boyamin to Medcom.id.

Registration for KPK leadership and supervisory board candidates is open until July 15, 2024. This selection will be carried out following the end of the term of office of the KPK leadership and supervisory board on December 20, 2024.

The number of Capim registrants has reached 210 people and Dewas 142 people. This data was recorded as of Monday, July 15, 2024, at 06.50 WIB. (Z-11)
