Mumbai: Ajinkya Rahane’s innings gave Chennai the victory with a fireworks innings when Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians at their home ground in the IPL.
But former Indian player Virender Sehwag openly says that Dhoni, who was the captain, dropped Rahane when he was in the Indian team due to his lack of batting speed. In an interview with Crick Bus, Sehwag asked why Dhoni, who included Rahane in the team in the IPL, did not give Rahane a chance to play when he was in the Indian team.
Rahane played most of his career under Dhoni. Rahane, who was a regular in the ODI team, was dropped due to lack of batting speed. In 2017, Dhoni resigned as captain and Virat Kohli became the captain. Still, Rahane might not become a regular in the team. Sehwag said that he is surprised that Dhoni has now included Rahane in the IPL team, who was left out saying that he lacked speed.

Rahane lost his place in the Indian team in 2016. Dhoni was the Indian captain then. Rahane was dropped from the T20 World Cup 2016 following India’s loss to the West Indies in the semi-finals. But in this year’s IPL auction, Rahane was picked in the Chennai team for 50 lakh rupees.
