Abu Dhabi: «The Gulf»
The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company “SEHA” will host the second Abu Dhabi Integrated Mental Health Conference, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, on January 28 and 29, where the event will combine digital and physical participation at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center.
The organization of this conference is part of SEHA’s efforts to promote mental health initiatives in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and to promote efforts to integrate psychiatry into primary health care. Prominent clinical professionals, academics and experts in mental and mental health will participate in the event.
Dr. Anwar Salam, Executive Director of Medical Affairs at SEHA, said that there is an urgent need to intensify efforts and coordination to support and empower patients suffering from mental and psychological illnesses in the region. As the largest healthcare provider network in the UAE, it is SEHA’s responsibility to ensure the development and implementation of programs and initiatives to improve mental health across the region.
He added that the scientific program of the conference is rich with information, focusing on the most important issues in this field and stimulating fruitful ideas and solutions for mental health. Expressing his conviction that all conference participants will benefit from the event programme. SEHA will continue its essential contribution to bringing regarding the desired change in the field of mental health.
Dr. Nahida Niaz Ahmed, Consultant Psychiatrist in Ambulatory Services and Chair of the Behavioral Health Council said: “SEHA continues to support mental health programs and initiatives across Abu Dhabi, as we recognize the growing need to integrate psychiatry into primary health care and overcome obstacles that prevent Applying contemporary global care models.
Just as nursing and allied health services are an essential component of treatment, psychotherapy is the mainstay of recovery from mental illness, and it is an important aspect that should not be ignored. We hope that the event will stimulate meaningful dialogue, as well as contribute to supporting Abu Dhabi’s pioneering efforts in the field of mental health.”
The conference brings together a group of international speakers and eminent experts. One of the highlights of the event is the organization of a session on the new mental health care model in the department, which confirms Abu Dhabi’s keenness to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from mental and mental illnesses.
The Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health, represented by Dr. Omniyat Al-Hajri, Executive Director of the Community Health Sector, will also participate in a session on community mental health and the role of educational and awareness campaigns integrative with the mental health care model, as well as the role of all sectors in improving the beliefs and behaviors of society towards wellness, mental health and the pursuit of early detection and reduce stigma.
