While SEGA Sammy, the publisher’s parent company, has just shared the results of its great fiscal year, we also learn that the Japanese firm has big plans for the coming year. About fifteen titles are already in the pipeline, including several expected remakes and remasters.

Excellent results for SEGA in the 2021-2022 financial year

Despite a complicated year for SEGA Sammy, particularly due to the COVID-19 crisis, the group has just shared a very good record achieved during the 2021-2022 financial year. In the end, the firm made $253 million in profits, compared to $208 million the previous year.. Rising figures, synonymous with good health, and due in large part to the sale of video games.

With titles like Lost Judgment, Super Monkey Ball : Banana Mania, Sonic Colors : Ultimate or Shin Megami Tensei V et Total War : Warhammer III, the publisher distributed approximately 27.2 million copies. Among these games, remakes, remasters and spin-offs represent approximately 4 million titles sold. A strategy that pays off. SEGA is doing very well for the year, but intends to do even better by 2023. The publisher still has a few projects under way that should allow it to beat this result.

An even better 2022-2023 season?

The publisher plans to distribute approximately 34.2 million copies by 2023. Better than this year therefore, and thanks in particular to regarding fifteen titles already planned by ruling out the Switch port 13 Sentinels : Aegis Rim now available. The first important meeting for the publisher concerns Sonic Origins next June, 22 to be more precise. Then we should have news of Two Point Campus but also Sonic Frontiersnew 3D iteration of the blue hedgehog.

In addition to Sonic Origins, SEGA should once once more focus on remakes and remasters. Speculation is rife and there is talk in particular of a remaster of Persona 3. As we know, the Persona license always arouses great interest among players and the publisher intends to capitalize on it, as evidenced by the recent Switch, PS4 and PC port of Persona 4 : Arena Ultimax. Meanwhile, fans are still waiting for a PC port of Persona 5.

On the new side, we should be entitled to the return of the famous Company of Heroes license with the third installment as well as Soul Hackers 2, spin-off sequel Devil Summoner : Soul Hackers de Shin Megami Tensei.

More information regarding these titles should follow in the coming months.
