In the recently concluded T20 World Cup Afghanistan of the men of Cricket team After appreciating the performance of this country Women cricketers International Cricket Council (ICC)ICC) has requested help in building a refugee team.

In a letter written by 17 Afghan women cricketers to the ICC, it was said that the Taliban government has banned women from education, work and sports.

In a letter written by the ICC asking for financial and leadership support, the cricketers said, “It is very unfortunate that we as women cannot represent our country like male cricketers.”

He said: ‘Our aim is to represent all Afghan women, who dream of playing cricket but are unable to play in Afghanistan.’ He asked the council to ‘help us build a refugee team in Australia.’

The women cricketers said that ‘Council’s support for the proposed team will allow Afghan refugee women to play across the border, participate in coaching and team management.’

The letter said that the formation of this team would enable ‘all Afghan women who want to represent their country to gather under one flag.’

Referring to Afghanistan’s men’s team’s impressive performance at the Cricket World Cup, the women said they aim to ‘compete at the highest level’ in the same way.

The letter said: ‘We want to recruit and train cricket-loving girls and women to showcase the talent of Afghan women to the world and achieve great victories when given the opportunity through the leadership and financial support of the ICC. ‘

After returning to power in 2021, the Taliban withdrew national support for two dozen women who played under the Afghanistan Cricket Board, and the women have taken refuge in Australia.

Many of these women have continued to play in Australian domestic competitions but have not had access to international cricket.

However, according to the rules of the governing body, it is mandatory for all test playing nations to support both men’s and women’s national teams.

Australia has rejected three invitations to play Afghanistan’s men’s cricket team because of the Taliban’s ban on women and earlier this year pulled out of the series in the UAE in August.
