NEW Seoul Opera will hold a traditional Korean opera performance entitled The Wedding Day in Indonesia on May 15 and 16 2024, at 19:30 WIB at the Grand Theater, Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta.

New Seoul Opera was founded in 2000 with the mission of carrying out cultural exchange through opera, as well as popularizing and introducing Korean opera to the world.

New Seoul Opera has presented extraordinary performances to audiences in more than 11 cities in North Korea, China, Japan, Europe, Russia, Vietnam and Thailand.

This is the first time the opera The Wedding Day has been performed in Indonesia. This opera performed by New Seoul Opera is an original Korean opera that combines traditional Korean culture with western music.

This show tells the story of a traditional wedding and has been shown in 11 cities in China, including Shanghai and Xi’an.

Furthermore, in 2012, this opera was performed in Beijing, Japan, Europe, Russia, Vietnam and Thailand. In 2024, the opera will be performed for the first time in Jakarta.

This opera is the debut of the first Korean opera in Indonesia and is a symbol of the celebration of 40 years of Sister City collaboration between Seoul and Jakarta.

The Wedding Day opera involves 100 performers and staff, including famous Korean vocalists, the Koreana Classical Orchestra, the Met Opera Choir, and the Didim Dance Company.

This opera will show aspects of traditional Korean culture through music, dance, costumes and stage sets.
