See you in September for the final clearance 2024-08-13 12:18:31

The MPs of SYRIZA, faithfully “copying” the example of their leader, take a few minutes’ breaks from their holidays not by posting on “X”, but by quite lightly submitting written questions to the government even on very serious issues. A typical example is the recent question by Evangelos Apostolakis and Renas Douros about national issues and foreign policy issues. An opposition tactic, of course, which is a far cry from the hard-working institutional parliamentary rhythms that some in Koumoundourou dreamed of, even hoping that it would be so effective and politically productive that it could even break the waves of internal controversies, which have drowned the party last long time.

The appointment

SYRIZA, since the night before yesterday, after the meeting of the Ethics Committee, which decided to postpone its decision on Christos Spritzis until August 23, officially “hung up” the sign that dominated during the summer months in the old winter cinemas and wrote “See you again in September…”.

According to well-informed sources in Koumoundourou, after the end of the August festivities, around the third ten days of the month, a lot will be decided about SYRIZA and its future. In particular, whether a unifying line will dominate the pre-conference dialogue that will precede the Statutory Conference or be crowned by major internal party upheavals.

The ferments, however, in the ranks of the internal party opposition continue and develop in every way. Characteristic is the online meeting held at the beginning of the week, in which not only most of the “87” of the internal party opposition, but more than 200 members of the party took part. The next meeting was set to take place around August 20th, when the final decisions and strategies will be made to be followed at the Central Committee meeting that will take place on September 6th and 7th. The “bloc” of the hardliners of the internal party opposition believes that at the meeting of the K.E. the issue of leadership should be raised. In fact, there are not a few who estimate that the upcoming meeting of the Central Committee risks being the fuse of dissolution with new mass departures of executives.

The “Polakis” component and its future

One of the components, however, that is not left out of the calculations made by both the presidential guard and the intra-party opposition bloc is Pavlos Polakis and the executives who are close to him. It is not by chance, after all, the attitude of “balance” and the slight “essence” of criticism reserved yesterday by the representative of SYRIZA, Voula Kehagia, towards the apse Cretan for his behavior towards Athina Linou.

With the answer she gave, Mrs. Kehagia may have reminded many of the proverb that says “Yannos fears the therio and Iano the therio”, as she said that “I cannot enter into a confrontation between two officials, a deputy and a prominent executive and until recently a member of parliament, but we appreciate the social work offered by Mrs. Linou”, thus adding for the first time to the “white towel” policy, which has been offered to Pavlos Polakis by Stefanos Kasselakis, and the first black grains.

However, a sensation was caused by the way Mrs. Kehagia “whistled indifferently” when asked about whether Pavlos Polakis will be referred to the Ethics Committee of SYRIZA, arguing that “there has been no complaint by any member or executive against Mr. Polakis until now . Mr. Polakis was removed from the Parliamentary Group for the specific incident with a verbal misstep towards an associate of Mr. Adonis Georgiadis”, completely silencing the fact that the Ethics Committee can and must act primarily ex officio, as well as that its main task is to control behaviors among party members.
