Almost 155 thousand new cars were registered in Brazil during the month of February 2024. The result represents an increase of 2.1% compared to January, according to data from the National Federation of Motor Vehicle Distribution (Fenabrave).
Among the best sellers, Fiat Strada pickup stayed at the top of the ranking for another month. The Volkswagen Polo hatch came in second place and another model from the Italian automaker, this time the Argo, closed the top sales podium in February.
The drop that the Chevrolet Onix had is noteworthy, remaining in eighth place with just over four thousand registered units. A direct competitor to the hatchback, the VW Polo almost doubled the sales of the GM model last month.
Furthermore, the BYD Dolphin once once more appeared among the 50 best sellers. The electric compact came in 33rd in the overall ranking with 1,807 units sold, surpassing vehicles such as the Fiat Cronos (1,657), the Renault Duster (1,782) and the Peugeot 208 (1,825).

Unsurprisingly, Fiat was at the top of the ranking of automakers with the most sales in February. The Italian brand was responsible for 22.1% of sales in the period in question. Volkswagen comes in second, with a 15.5% share.
Chevrolet came in third, with 10.7% of the market. In the year to date, Fiat also leads, accounting for 21.25% of sales. A surprise is BYD, which appeared on the list as the 10th highest-selling automaker in February (2.8%).
