Tesla has just delivered the first units of the Semi, its electric truck. How is the commercialization of this model expected?
Tesla, in 2017, presented the Semi truck to society, an alternative designed for the sustainable transport of goods. Thanks to this, we are faced with a product with a much more refined finish and that includes all the technologies that the manufacturer has developed over the last few years. After many waits and delays, the first units of the Tesla Semi have already been produced
The event took place at the Gigafactory that the car manufacturer owns in the State of Nevada, United States. Among the customers who placed the most trust in Tesla is Pepsi, a company that formalized the order for up to a hundred units. The Tesla CEO has confirmed that he expects by the year 2024 there will be a total of 50,000 units of the Semi on roads around the world. We know how extravagant he is at times, the tycoon, but sooner or later, many of his claims end up coming true.
As can be seen in the previous images, the Tesla event took place in the same way as other actions of this class. Elon Musk himself is inside one of the truck cabins on the screen, to later move on to some of the curiosities that best define his new ‘toy’. This event has been more focused on the corporate market because it will be a product created to satisfy a very specific demand. Still, this is a polished product to compete in this industry.
Once again, Tesla is the pioneer in launching a differential product in a market niche. The company is expected to launch up to 3 potential vehicles over the next 2 years. The next production targets will undoubtedly be the Cybertruck, the Roadster and a compact that would be one step below the Model 3. This last case presents some other additional obstacle, since we are talking about a car that must have a starting price below 30,000 euros.
