Pope Francis’ Twitter message calling to see Jesus in the poor.

Fr. Jinu Jacob, Vatican City

Pope Francis is the first of the world leaders who always reminds us to reach out to those who need our help with a large heart of mercy. His acts of mercy for those who were on the streets in and around the Vatican have created a lot of movement in the world conscience. Thus once once more remembering the poor people and showing them to the world, he wrote a short message on the social media Twitter on the 13th of June.

The full text of the message is as follows:

“Do not turn away from the poor” (Tobit 4,7). When we stand before a poor person, we cannot take our gaze away from him, because to do so would prevent us from meeting the face of the Lord Jesus.”

EN: «Do not turn your eyes away from every poor person» (Tb 4,7). When we are in front of a poor person we cannot turn our gaze away, because we would prevent ourselves from meeting the face of the Lord Jesus.

EN: “Do not turn your face away from anyone who is poor” (Tb 4:7). Whenever we encounter a poor person, we cannot look away, for that would prevent us from encountering the face of the Lord Jesus.

Tens of thousands of people around the world read and share the Pope’s short messages on Twitter. And the Pope is the number one Twitter account of world leaders with the most followers. In the overcrowded world of artificial intelligence and usability, Twitter’s ideas are influencing many human minds.
