Sedebi supported more than 250 women with training and supplies for traditional medicine

Workshops were held to preserve the ancestral knowledge of traditional doctors from 21 municipalities

The Training and Granting of Supplies for Traditional Medicine Program of the Michoacán Welfare Secretariat (Sedebi) trained 266 women from 21 municipalities of Michoacán in 2022.

The objective of offering these workshops was to preserve the ancestral knowledge of traditional doctors, in order to professionalize their work and develop this self-employment alternative, which is aimed at the advancement of women and the reduction of inequalities.

Thus, women heads of households were trained in the preparation of natural products and therapeutic massage techniques, especially those who live in locations far from clinics or health centers, so that they might care for the health of their relatives, in addition to self-employment and Generate income from the sale of manufactured products.

The foregoing was possible thanks to the signing of an agreement signed by Sedebi with the Secretariat for Substantive Equality and Development of Women (Seimujer) and the Secretariat of Health in Michoacán (SSM), in October 2022, regarding the professionalization of traditional medicines.

In addition to the training, 99 kits with utensils and supplies were delivered to apply the knowledge acquired.

The courses and inputs were exercised with a budget of 344,485 pesos and were received by indigenous women from Nahuatzen, Erongarícuaro, Pátzcuaro, Quiroga, Morelia, Tzintzuntzan, Ziracuaretiro, Ocampo, Chavinda, Zacapu, Cheran, Los Reyes, Hidalgo, Huaniqueo, Taretan, Tingambato, Santa Ana Maya, Beautiful View, Tinguindin, Alvaro Obregon and Zamora.
