2023-10-17 17:40:38

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. at the hospital located on the Buitenring Sint-Denijs in Ghent. The local police took no chances and began the suspicious package procedure. A security zone was set up and the hospital reception was evacuated.

The DOVO mine clearance service and the federal police’s explosive detection dogs were called to intervene, but the alarm was raised shortly before 8 p.m. “It was a suitcase containing clothes. Emergency services quickly arrived on site and everything was back to normal,” said Catherine Zenner, spokesperson for AZ Maria Middelares.
