Lahore
According to the spokesman of the Punjab Police, 2730 processions were held today in the entire province including Lahore and more than 2500 assemblies were held.
According to correspondent Arshad Chaudhry, the main historical procession of Ashura Day in Lahore started from Nisar Haveli on the night of 9th of Muharram and passed through the designated routes and reached Karbala Game Shah on the evening of 10th of Muharram.
Police and Rangers in various districts of Punjab including Lahore inspected the routes and cleared them before the processions.
According to Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police Usman Anwar, more than 125,000 police officers and officials are engaged in the security arrangements for funeral processions and assemblies and all field formations including Special Branch and CTD are also involved in the security arrangements of Ashura Day. while RPOs, CPOs, DPOs and Traffic Officers are monitoring the security and traffic arrangements in the field.
Additional personnel including Rangers personnel were present on the procession routes to deal with any untoward incident immediately.
Mobile phone and internet services were blocked around the processions and majalis and the participants of the majalis or processions were allowed to participate only following searching them.
Medical camps were set up by the administration to provide first aid to the mourners while cold water bottles and anchors were arranged around the processions and gatherings.
The Punjab government organized the distribution of langar on the occasion of 10th Muharram.
On the other hand, on the 10th of Muharram, people read prayers and offered flowers on the graves of their loved ones.

Karachi
The main procession of 10 Muharram in Karachi took off from Nishtar Park at 9 am on Wednesday morning, passing through the traditional routes of MA Jinnah Road, Empress Market, Regal Chowk and Tibet Center and ending at Hussainiya Iraniyan Kharadar in the evening.
According to Correspondent Amar Garu, strict security arrangements were made on the seven-kilometer passage from Nishtar Park to Hussainiya Iranian Kharadar of Karachi’s main procession.
Similarly, all the roads and streets around MA Jinnah Road, the main procession route, were kept completely closed by installing containers.
The police and other security forces cleared the route of the procession with the help of sniffer dogs while all the shops and business centers along the route were sealed.
Watchtowers were erected on the passage to monitor the main procession. Apart from this, snipers were stationed on selected tall buildings on the passageways of the procession.
Along with the partial suspension of mobile phone service in different areas of Karachi, display of weapons, double riding of motorcycles and flying of drones were also banned across the city.
Central Police Office and Civic Center command and controls monitored the procession routes.
According to the Karachi Police spokesperson, 17 thousand 947 officers and personnel were deployed on security for the Muharram processions in the city, while 987 officers and personnel of the traffic police performed the duties.
According to the Karachi Traffic Police, small or big traffic was not allowed on the procession route beyond Gurmandar Chowk and would divert the traffic towards Bahadur Yar Jung Road, Soldier Bazar.
According to the traffic police, the traffic coming towards the processions was diverted to alternative routes for security.
During the procession, entry of all types of vehicles was prohibited on MA Jinnah Road.
According to the alternative traffic plan, the traffic coming from Nazimabad will be diverted from Lasbela Chowk towards Nishtar Road and Garden.
All the roads and streets around MA Jinnah Road, the main procession route of 10 Muharram in Karachi, have also been completely closed by placing containers (Amar Garu/Independent Urdu).
Similarly, the vehicles going from Hasan Square to People’s Chowrangi were diverted from Kashmir Road to Quaideen Shahrah and Jail Flyover to Nishtar Road.
Traffic from Shahrah Faisal to Shahrah Quaideen was diverted from Society Signal to Kashmir Road, while traffic from Jamshed Road to MA Jinnah Road was diverted from Gurmandar to Soldier Bazar.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with Provincial Ministers Saeed Ghani, Zia Linjar and Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab visited the main Muharram procession.
According to the statement issued by Chief Minister House, Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon informed Murad Ali Shah regarding the security arrangements.
Chief Minister Sindh directed the police authorities to make security foolproof on the passages of the mourning procession.
Murad Ali Shah in a conversation with the local media further said that all the security agencies including police and rangers are alert. Considering the situation, security arrangements have been made. A new wave of terrorism is going on in the country.
The Chief Minister of Sindh further said that ‘security will continue to be reviewed until the end of the processions.’
Islam Abad
According to the police, more than six thousand police officers and officials were deployed across the district for strict security arrangements for the 10 Muharram procession in Rawalpindi.
According to correspondent Mona Khan, the main processions of 9th Muharram in the twin cities were taken out from Islamabad, while the main processions of 10th Muharram were taken out from Rawalpindi city.
Rawalpindi Police said in a statement that more than 900 traffic wardens were deployed for the flow of traffic while around 3000 officers and personnel were deployed for the main procession.
There are 65 processions and 113 majlis in Rawalpindi district. Walk-through gates are installed at the entrances of the main procession and the participants of the procession are allowed to enter following a thorough body search.

It was further informed that ‘along with the security personnel, volunteers also performed their duties, complete scanning and sweeping of the routes was done before the departure of the procession.
Apart from this, expert shooters were posted on tall buildings for the security of the procession. The roads leading to the main procession were sealed.
Rawal Pindi
According to correspondent Mona Khan, the main procession of Ashura Day in Rawalpindi started from Committee Chowk Ashiq Hussain Imambargah.
Before the procession, a mourning meeting was held in the Imambargah, in which scholars and remembrancers narrated the incident of Karbala, following which the mourning procession of the image of Zul-Jinah was taken out from the committee square at 11:30 a.m.
The procession left from Colonel Maqbool Imambargah joined the main procession and reached Fawara Chowk through its traditional routes through Committee Chowk, Alam Khan Road, College Road, Trunk Bazar.
Zuhrin prayer was offered at Fawara Chowk. The procession from Fawara Chowk passed through Old Fort, Jamia Masjid Road and reached the old Imam Bargah.
Quetta
The main mourning procession of 10th of Muharram in Quetta started from Chowk Shahada Alamdar Road. Ashura Day procession consisting of 37 troops Liaquat Bazar. Prince Road reached Bisht Zainab Cemetery through Alamdar Road and ended.
Mourners offered Zaheer Namaz at Meezan Chowk. Meanwhile, strict security arrangements were made to protect the procession.
The police said that all the roads connected to the procession route remained sealed while more than 6600 police personnel were deployed in the procession route and sensitive areas.
