Thiruvananthapuram: The Security Forces (SP) has been relocated following a security breach during President Ramnath Kovind’s visit last December. Security SPN in charge of security of VIP visits. Vijayakumar was transferred to the crime branch.

He was in Thiruvananthapuram on the last day of the President’s four – day visit to Kerala. That evening he and his wife visited the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple. An official of the temple was assigned to explain the temple rituals and so on. But it is alleged that the SP intervened and spoke while the temple representatives were explaining. The SP’s explanation continued despite attempts by presidential security officials to stop him. Later, when the President was resting in another room, the SP went there and talked regarding temple matters. It is learned that the President himself had to respond so as not to confuse him.

The Iowa incident annoyed the president’s security team. After the President’s arrival in Delhi, the Union Home Ministry sent a letter to the state seeking an explanation. The Center said such incidents would be considered a security breach and should not be repeated. The action follows. The mayor of Thiruvananthapuram’s car was driven into the President’s convoy in the city.
