Claudia Jung is one of the greats in the German-speaking hit industry. She has some important tips ready for young talents.
Dortmund – With hits like “Je t’aime, mon amour” and “Come and dance with me one last time” Claudia Jung (59) became a real hit icon in the 80s and 90s. Even today she still makes the stages of the Federal Republic unsafe and is always a welcome guest in the relevant television shows.
Most recently, Claudia Jung appeared on the “Giovanni Zarrella Show”, one of the most successful music shows on German-speaking TV at the moment. According to Jung, the fact that her hit career is still not a thing of the past is due to a simple recipe for success.

“I won’t let the industry eat me up,” she said in an interview before the ZDF program Colorful clear. According to Claudia Jung, in order to be in demand in the long term, you need above all star potential: “There are certainly singers who are better than me. The better-looking ones who deserve to be hugely successful because they’re such an eye-catcher and have a great voice. But then something else is missing. There are some things you can’t force, they’re just given to you by fate – or put into your cradle.”

But even if all the requirements are met, success is not guaranteed, explains Claudia Jung. Because a certain amount of luck is also part of it. “I was simply in the right place at the right time, with the right people and a guardian angel by my side when things got tricky,” says the almost 60-year-old in an interview regarding the beginning of her career.

However, there is one thing every aspiring pop singer should take to heart: authenticity. Claudia Jung says: “If you want to be successful today, you must not be Helene Fischer (38). You can’t be like Andrea Berg (57) or Beatrice Egli (35), they all exist and they do their job really well. You have to find your own way.” Even then, Jung thought it was wrong that she herself was at times the great role model for newcomers: “I already existed, you didn’t need to copy me.”
