In social networks, especially in Twitter, A video quickly went viral in which a doctor (identified as Yair Herrera) is arrested by soldiers from the Bogota Metropolitan Police. While this is happening, several colleagues and staff from the care center try to prevent the patrolmen from taking him away: “Why like this? Don’t take it like that”, is heard on a cell phone recording.
In several tweets that denounced this situation, and that are accompanied by the video, It is stated that the incident occurred at the Santa Clara Hospital, in the south of the Colombian capital.when the doctor I was leaving a patient in the emergency room of this care center.
How can you see in the film, at the emergency entrance of the hospital, several uniformed men surround the doctor, while a person, wearing a jacket from the Bogotá Ministry of Health, argues strongly with the patrolmen to prevent this doctor from being arrested; . “Why do they take it like that? He has to deliver the patient!” is heard once more on the recording.
In the background, several women can be heard asking the Police not to take this doctor away, while the man – who apparently works with the Secretary of Health of Bogotá– tries to get between the uniformed men and the doctor to avoid his arrest.
Finally, as can be seen in the recording, Yair leaves the emergency section of the hospital (located in the south of Bogotá, in the town of Antonio Nariño) with handcuffs on and accompanied by at least five uniformed officers from the Public Order Institution; while other people ask to continue with the discussion outside the emergency department of the Santa Clara hospital.
One of the ambulance crew (Derly Romero) told Caracol Radio that the Police asked Yair for the card that accredited him in his medical work, if he did not show it he might not proceed with the transfer of the patient, but he ignored it and went with the patient in the vehicle to the hospital.
