Manisan, the highest mountain in Ganghwa Island, was surrounded by white smoke.

Red flames soar from the ridge, and forest fire fighting helicopters pour water over and over again.

″I will come down to the private house below.″

A fire broke out at a hill in Ganghwa-gun, Incheon at around 2:30 pm today.

″I’m not kidding, what about the fire now? <그냥 시뻘게…>″

At the site, strong winds of 40 km/h blew the embers, and they moved to Mount Mani, about 2 km away.

″(The wind) blew hard enough to blow dust once. It was to the point that people who went up the mountain with hats on said that their hats were about to blow.”

The fire authorities, who had issued the first stage of response within 40 minutes of the wildfire, raised the fire to the second stage at 4:30 p.m.

″By building a blockage line for each sector, fire trucks are deployed to prevent further spread in the direction of the forest fire, and they are being waterproofed. We’re getting inside and extinguishing it with helicopters and firefighters.”

The forest authorities put in 14 firefighting helicopters and 539 forest firefighters to extinguish the fire, and now that the sun has gone down, all helicopters have withdrawn.

Currently, 456 firefighters and 41 pieces of equipment are being put into firefighting at night.

As of 5:30 p.m., 13 hectares had been reduced to ashes, the evolution rate was 50%, and the forest fire was tentatively counted as spanning 1.8 km.
