Al Ain, April 4 / WAM / The National Center for Water and Energy at the United Arab Emirates University is organizing the second edition of the international conference “Management and Sustainability of Water Resources: Solutions in Dry Areas” from February 22-26, 2024, in Dubai.
The organization of the second edition comes following the success of the first edition of the conference during 2022, which was held within the activities of Expo 2020, which is part of the university’s role in building science and scientific knowledge related to national priorities through its research centers.
The conference aims to discuss water issues and address future challenges. It also presents advanced science, innovative technologies and important practices that shape the future of managing and sustaining water resources in arid and semi-arid regions around the world, in addition to addressing current and future challenges to manage limited water resources efficiently.
Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Vice President for Scientific Research at the University and Chairman of the Higher Committee of the Conference, said that the conference comes in line with the university’s vision to support development and contribute to achieving the UAE’s Agenda for Advanced Sciences 2031 and the State’s Water Security Strategy 2036.
He pointed out that the conference enhances the university’s efforts to find scientific and innovative solutions to strategic global challenges related to climate change and the sustainability of natural resources.
He explained that the problem of water shortage constitutes a major obstacle to sustainable development, and there are great challenges to the use and management of water resources. He pointed out that the lack of fresh water in sufficient quantities in arid and semi-arid regions is a major challenge to sustainable development.
