Second F1 Miami GP free practice: Mercedes F1 Russell is the fastest time. Red Bull F1 Verstappen has no time due to trouble[F1-Gate .com]

The second free run of the 2022 F1 Round 5 Miami GP was held on Friday, May 6th at the Miami International Autodrome in the United States, with George Russell (Mercedes F1) marking the top time.

The 60-minute FP2 session, which began at 17:30 local time, had a temperature of 32 degrees and a road surface temperature of 42 degrees, which was 10 degrees lower than FP1. Familiarity with the new circuit was a major priority for each team in FP1, but more practical setup and data collection was the main priority in FP2.

Carlos Sainz (Scuderia Ferrari) spun on turn 14 and crashed when 15 minutes had passed since the start. It caused damage to the front and back of the machine and caused a red flag. Sainz also crashed in the qualifying for the previous Emilia Romagna GP, and has not cut off the bad tide.

In the remaining 10 minutes, Nicholas Latifi (Williams) stopped due to a machine trouble and the second red flag was interrupted. It was a session with many stops.

George Russell of Mercedes F1 set the fastest time for the second free practice session. He set a competitive time of 1’29.938. His teammate Lewis Hamilton also showed bright signs in 4th place. However, in FP2, which has been fueled for a long run and the road surface temperature has dropped, popping is reappearing, and although it is fast, it is judged whether the upgrade introduced at this tournament is effective. It was a difficult session.

2nd place is Charles Leclerc of Scuderia Ferrari with a difference of 0.106 seconds. The crash of his teammate made him take charge of the program by himself, but the stable running was impressive.

3rd is Sergio Perez of Red Bull Racing. The difference with the top was 0.241 seconds, which was a little wider. His teammate Max Verstappen broke out on the right rear brake on the installation lap. He returned the car to the garage, but mightn’t repair it in time and was forced into a difficult situation with only one lap.

Fernando Alonso (Alpine F1 Team) was in 5th position, followed by Lando Norris (McLaren) and midfielders in 6th position.

7th is Pierre Guthrie of Scuderia AlphaTauri. Guthrie talked to the 7th-8th car before the weekend, but Bottas mightn’t run, so the evaluation seems to be correct. Teammate Yuki Tsunoda is 13th. He’s calmly building up in a situation where he shouldn’t break the car, but he hasn’t been able to show the speed yet.

The second F1 Miami GP free practice session will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 26:00 Japan time (13:00 local time).
