Second best year for Ars Electronica: 172,160 visitors

In addition to the economic success of the Linz institution at the interface of art, science and technology, 172,160 visitors to the Ars Electronica Center (2022 for comparison: 144,082) make last year one of the most successful since the museum was founded. In addition, a total of 36,485 students attended the AEC as a class – apart from the Capital of Culture year in 2009, a new record. Including the AE Festival, more than 250,000 visitors were counted, six competitions with prize money totaling 232,850 euros and 6,131 submissions as well as 20 EU projects were carried out. In addition, the AE Futurelab was awarded the oö. State Prize for Innovation Recognized. The AE Export department curated nine exhibitions and implemented 48 events in 26 countries. AE Solutions completed 44 projects for 22 customers in nine countries.

Two thirds self-generated

In addition to the artistic offerings in Linz, the AE 2023 entered into collaborations with the Louvre Museum in Paris, the Reina Art Center in Sofia, the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Salzburg Festival and realized commissions from Ricoh, Toyota, KEBA, Böhler and the European companies, among others Space agency ESA (pavilion at the aerospace trade fair in Paris, expansion of the ESA-ESRIN center in Frascati near Rome). Jandl: “We have overcome the following-effects of the pandemic and defied high inflation and the difficult economic conditions.
