MALMÖ. Malmö FF’s Sebastian Nanasi is ready for Strasbourg, writes Fabrizio Romano.

According to the transfer journalist, MFF will receive SEK 125 million for the 22-year-old – a new Swedish transfer record.

– We wish him all the best… if it’s done, smiles Isaac Kiese Thelin.

Malmöstjärnan has been a hot wild card during the summer and Sportbladet has, among other things, revealed that St. Etienne was ready to pay SEK 100 million.

Now Nanasi is ready for the French Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, reports Fabrizio Romano. The price tag is said to land at 11 million euros (125 million kroner), which would be a new Swedish transfer record.

– I can’t say much. It would surprise me if he is available (for the weekend). I am happy that we have been able to use him as much as we have been able to, says Malmö FF’s coach Henrik Rydström at the press conference after the match against Sparta Prague in the CL qualifiers.

Nanasi’s former teammate in Malmö Hugo Larsson was sold for around 95-100 million (with bonuses that could make the deal worth up to 132 million). But in terms of direct transfer sum, Nanasi’s expected sale is the largest ever from the Allsvenskan.

– Sebbe is a fantastic player who we are happy to have here. But football is like that, players come and players go. Now someone else has to step up in his place, says Isaac Kiese Thelin.

According to the information, Nanasi will travel to France tomorrow to undergo medical examination and finalize the deal. That means he looks set to miss MFF’s return in the Champions League playoff against Sparta Prague on Tuesday. The first meeting ended 2–0 to the Czechs.

“He is a smart player”

Kiese Thelin himself has played in Ligue 1, in Bordeaux. He thinks Nanasi fits well there.

– He is a smart player who may avoid certain duels because he is so smart in the game. He will develop there and if he does well, you know that the next step is really high. We wish him all the best…if it’s done, he says with a smile.

Nanasi has made three international appearances for the Sweden A national team. In Malmö FF, he has scored 26 goals and 21 assists in 94 competitive matches.
