Madrid.-The Spanish courts ruled on Thursday morning in a hearing that Gianina García Troche, wife of Uruguayan drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, will remain under administrative arrest in Madrid for the next few days.
The measure is being taken while the extradition process from Paraguay is pending completion, where he faces a sentence of up to 22 and a half years in prison.
According to El Observador, Paraguay has 60 days to submit all necessary documents and finalize the extradition request.
García Troche, 31, was arrested on Wednesday at Barajas airport in the Spanish capital.
The investigation carried out by the National Anti-Drug Secretariat of Paraguay indicates that García Troche played an active role in laundering money from drug trafficking by forming the company called Grupo San Jorge, whose fantasy name was TOTAL CARS, a company dedicated to providing workshop services for high-end vehicles, which was inaugurated in May 2021 in Asunción, Paraguay, at an event in which both Marset and the now detained woman participated, as well as several relatives.
In addition, according to the Paraguayan police investigation, the now detained woman used to travel in a Mercedes Benz van that was registered in the name of a person who appears as a front man for the Insfran clan, a criminal group associated with Marset, which is being investigated for the shipment of 16 tons of cocaine to Europe.
Her defense, led by Santiago Moratorio, maintains that the company and bank account that García Troche is supposedly linked to in the money laundering scheme were never used, and that she had no connection to her husband’s illegal activities.
His brother, Mauro García Troche, is also wanted for his participation in the criminal group, as he was listed as a front man for the 230-hectare field owned by Marset. In August 2023, the Uruguayan police carried out an operation to arrest him in the Empalme Olmos area, in Canelones, but did not find him and ended up capturing his father, who was convicted of arms trafficking for having an antique shotgun.Tele Mundo.
