The Chaterauroux Shooting Centre was once again the scene of a Guatemalan athlete at the Paris Olympic Games.

Sebastián Bermúdez had a dream since he was 12 years old and in the early hours of August 2, at the age of 24, he fulfilled it: competing in the Olympic Games.

The Chaterauroux Shooting Centre, located about two hours from Paris, is already an iconic setting for the national sport, as it was the place where Adriana Ruano and Jean Pierre Brol were crowned with a gold and bronze medal respectively; and it was during the early hours of August 2 that the shooting range once again saw a Guatemalan try to make history there.

During his first two appearances, Sebastián made good shots and accumulated 48 of 50 hits, which kept him tied with several rivals and in 13th position in the general classification.

However, everything changed in the third round of shooting on August 2, when Sebastian missed four targets, managing to hit 21 for a total of 69 out of 75.

This situation leaves him practically in check for the last two rounds that will be played in the early hours of August 3, since he is forced to have a perfect finish and wait for his opponents to make a mistake, being in position 24.

Despite everything, Bermúdez is a capable shooter, having already demonstrated this by obtaining a gold medal at the Shooting Championship of the Americas held in the Dominican Republic; and two gold medals in individual and team competitions that he won at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023.
