New York Islanders defenseman Sebastian Aho – not to be confused with Carolina Hurricanes star player – was arrested for impaired driving in Sweden on Wednesday.
The general manager of the “Isles”, Lou Lamoriello, confirmed by press release the information which had been circulating in certain Swedish media since the beginning of the followingnoon.
“We are aware of the situation involving Sebastian Aho. We have a copy of the police report which indicates that he had a blood alcohol level of 0.03, just over the legal limit in Sweden of 0.02.
“Sebastian apologizes for his mistake and we will work with him to make sure this never happens once more.”
The 26-year-old Aho played 36 games with the Islanders last season, recording 12 points. He has 18 points in 61 National Hockey League games and recently signed a two-year, one-way deal with the Big Apple.
If he manages to avoid the pranks off the ice in 2021-22, Aho should fight for a position in the third pair of the Islanders’ defensive squad.
