Seattle Seahawks Defeat New York Giants 24-3: Whiterspoon Shines with Intercepted Pass and Two Sacks

NEWARK, NJ – Defensive back Devon Whiterspoon had the best game of his young NFL career to help the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New York Giants 24-3 on Monday night.

The fifth overall pick in the last draft, Whiterspoon scored the first touchdown of his career late in the third quarter. While the Giants (1-3) were on the verge of scoring, the cornerback intercepted Daniel Jones’ pass and rushed 97 yards to score the major. Whiterspoon also added two sacks.

In the second quarter, the Seahawks (3-1) had a scare. They lost the services of Geno Smith, who appeared to injure his knee after a tackle. Smith, however, returned to his position to start the third quarter.

The veteran was relatively efficient in this game, completing 13 of his 20 passes for gains of 110 yards. He threw a touchdown pass to DK Metcalf to give his team the lead in the first quarter.

In the New York camp, things are far from improving for Daniel Jones and Brian Daboll’s offensive unit.

Jones completed 27 of 34 passes for 203 yards, but the Duke alum threw two interceptions and was the victim of a fumble. The Seahawks defense manhandled him behind the line of scrimmage by managing 10 sacks for losses of 60 yards. Seattle also managed another quarterback sack at the expense of Parris Campbell. The Seahawks’ 11 sacks tie a team record.

The Giants are the only team on the Goodell circuit not to have scored a touchdown in the first half this season. Even worse ; they were outscored 77-9 in the first 30 minutes of play in their first four games. New York has had the lead for just 19 seconds since the start of the 2023 campaign.

In their first game of the season, also in front of their fans, the G-Men were humiliated 40 to 0 by the Dallas Cowboys.

Jamal Adams is unlucky

Returning to the game after an absence of 385 days, Seahawks safety Jamal Adams did not have the desired return. After just nine defensive plays, he was forced to leave the game with a concussion.

Adams, however, seemed to disagree with the decision of the independent doctors present at MetLife Stadium. He exchanged a few words with them on the sidelines before heading towards the visitors’ locker room.

The Giants were once again without the services of star running back Saquon Barkley, who is nursing an ankle injury.
