PHOENIX — Luis Castillo pitched seven strong innings, JP Crawford hit a solo homer and the Seattle Mariners beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0 on Sunday.

The Mariners took two of three games in the weekend series and improved to 54-51 on the season as the front office tries to decide whether to sell, buy or make no trades before Tuesday’s trade deadline.

Merrill Kelly (9-5) overcame a 41-pitch first inning to finish with a decent outing. The right-hander allowed three innings and seven hits in just over five innings, striking out six and issuing two walks.

The Diamondbacks finished with just three hits, from Ketel Marte, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Emmanuel Rivera.

For the Diamondbacks, the Dominicans Geraldo Perdomo 4-0, Ketel Marte 4-1. The Cuban Lourdes Gurriel Jr. from 3-1. Puerto Rican Emanuel Rivera 2-1. Venezuelan José Herrera 2-0.
