Seattle Mariners Complete Sweep with Game-Changing Single in 10th Inning: Recap of Mariners vs. Angels Matchup

ANAHEIM — Eugenio Suárez hit a game-changing single in the 10th inning, and the Seattle Mariners completed a four-game sweep with a 3-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

JP Crawford homered on the first pitch of the game, and Teoscar Hernández tied the game with a home run in the seventh for the Mariners (60-52), who have accumulated five straight wins, placing themselves 4 1/2 games ahead of their rivals in the game. American League West, the Angels (56-57) in the wild card race.

Eugenio Suárez was 4-0 with three strikeouts before with a full count he drove in Ty France with a single off Jaime Barría (2-6) in the tenth.

Tayler Saucedo (3-1) relieved two scoreless innings for Seattle despite giving up a long 362-foot out on a fly ball hit by Mike Moustakas that might have been the game-winning home run in any but four major league ballparks.

Seattle won following the Angels’ Chase Silseth and the Mariners’ Bryce Miller became the first pair of rookie starters to each record 10 strikeouts in the same game since 1906, according to MLB Research.

For the Mariners, Dominican Teoscar Hernández batted 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Julio Rodríguez went 1-5 with an RBI and a run scored; and the Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez of 5-1 with a reclaimed.

For the Angels, Venezuelan Luis Rengifo batted 4-1.
