If the Seattle Kraken wins Monday night in Game 7 of the series once morest the Dallas Stars, Gary Bettman and the NHL would probably have a moment of celebration behind the scenes.
After all, Bettman would have won his bet. The two newest expansion teams in the NHL would meet in the Western Final and one of them would definitely advance to the Stanley Cup Final.
Seattle would then have taken only two years to reach the conference playoff final, while the Golden Knights earned their ticket to the semi-finals for the fourth time in six years of existence on Sunday.
But before they can think regarding the next round, the Kraken must tackle the Stars, who will be back in front of their fans with the hope of coming within four wins of a place in the final.
After winning two in a row for the first time in the series, the Stars were unable to finish the job on Saturday night, in a 6-3 loss that sent everyone into an ultimate game.
Dallas can, however, maintain confidence heading into Monday night’s game. Joe Pavelski appears to have the Kraken’s number with eight goals already in the series, Roope Hintz has 18 postseason points – just behind Connor McDavid – and Jason Robertson was even in the playoffs.
The Stars have not lost two games in a row since the start of the playoffs. That should cheer Dallas up.
As for the Kraken, Yanni Gourde continues to prove he’s a playoff player with 12 points in 13 games. To hope to win, Seattle will certainly hope for an overall offensive contribution from all its lines.
Unsurprisingly, Jake Oettinger and Philipp Grubauer will be the starting goaltenders.
