Seasonal dengue alert in Thailand

Thai authorities have expressed concern over seasonal dengue fever and are advising people to seek medical attention if they show symptoms of the disease.

Deputy government spokeswoman Traisuree Taisaranakul said Thailand is currently in the rainy season, which provides an ideal environment for mosquitoes and increases the risk of dengue cases across the country.

She cited data from the Department of Disease Control (DDC), which reported 5,196 dengue fever cases between Jan. 1 and June 30, including six fatalities.

The government is urging the public to be vigilant and eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds in their communities.

People are also encouraged to closely monitor their personal and family health as the pandemic is still ongoing.

Recognizing Dengue Symptoms

General symptoms of dengue fever include high fever throughout the day for 2-7 days, head and muscle aches, red spots on hands, legs and body, nausea, headache stomach, loss of appetite, but no runny nose.
