On Monday, search teams are still searching with full force for a man in his 50s, who last stayed in a company at a village house in Sitter in Flatanger.
Just after midnight on Sunday night, the man was reported missing. Since then, search teams have searched for the man, without success.
On Tuesday afternoon, task leader Karl Morten Flasnes maintains that on land there is still a search and rescue operation they are carrying out:
– We are looking for a man who is alive. Doctors from the air ambulance have assessed that, if he is on land, there is a high probability that he is alive. It has to do with the weather and the possibility of seeking shelter, he says and emphasizes that the crews have no indications that the man may have died.
On Monday afternoon, operations manager Ebbe Kimo said that the search crews were searching with an underwater drone for a presumed dead person. This means that the police are conducting two parallel searches: for a presumed dead person in the water and for a person alive on land.
– There is a natural development in the search. If the person has ended up in the water, and the longer time passes, it is more likely that the person has also died, said Kimo.
– Have too little to work on
The man is said to have been wearing black suit trousers and a jacket, as well as a white shirt, when he was last seen at 5pm on Saturday. The man is clean-shaven, according to the police.
Operations leader Flasnes says the search continues unabated, and that around 60 people are participating in the search. Actors who participate are the Civil Defense, the Home Guard, the Red Cross and Norwegian People’s Aid, in addition to personnel from the police.
On Sunday, a search was carried out by helicopter. On Monday and Tuesday, boats participate in the search, and on Tuesday drones are also in the air. The search area is the same as the previous days.
The police have been tipped off about a possible sighting of the man, something after he was last seen at the village house.
– We have far too little to work on, but work hard with the little we have to try to create the right timeline and get to the bottom of the matter. We are conducting fine searches and still want tips.

Asks private individuals to apply themselves
The police do not know why the man went missing, but that they do not suspect that he is exposed to anything criminal.
On Sunday, the police asked homeowners and owners of holiday homes on Sitter, within the area of Brenna, Vakkervollen and Styra, to investigate outbuildings, boathouses and other places where the missing person may have stayed. This call is repeated by the task leader on Tuesday:
– Flatanger municipality has sent an SMS to all owners of houses and holiday homes in the municipality, urging them to apply for their properties. If there is someone who does not have the opportunity to do this, we ask them to contact the police, says Flasnes.
