“The search has not ended,” said the Colombian National Army this Sunday.
While this country continues to celebrate the rescue alive of the four children who disappeared for 40 days in the jungle following the plane crashed in which they were traveling, the military tries to find the last of the lost: the Wilson rescue dog.
This six-year-old Belgian shepherd was key to finding several of the clues that indicated that the children were alive and alone in the middle of the jungle.
Even various accounts indicate that at some point the dog found to the kids on their own and spent time with them.
But now he does not appear, predictably lost in a dangerous jungle and adverse climate, habitat of many predators.
Under the premise that “no one is left behind,” the Army is looking for the dog Wilson as “one more of the command”.
This is what is known regarding his exploits and whereregardings.
“Disoriented” in the jungle
Wilson got lost in the middle of the Colombian Amazon jungle during the rescue of four indigenous children Lesly, Soleiny, Tien and Cristin.
These were finally found on June 9 thanks to the efforts of the military and a group of indigenous people. Now they are recovering in a hospital in Bogotá, the capital of the country.
In the aircraft accident, all the crew members died except the children, including their mother, an indigenous leader and the pilot.
The dog it was very important in the work initials rescue and helped keep alive the hope that the children were still alive when he found a pink baby bottle in the middle of the vegetation.
The army reported the loss of the animal last Thursday.
“Due to the complexity of the terrain, the humidity and the adverse weather conditions would have disoriented“the military said in a statement.
However, before getting lost, several clues suggest that Wilson may have reached the children first, accompanying them for a while.
“Four-Legged Friend”
The first of these clues comes directly from the minors.
Cáceres added that the children spoke “of the puppy that was lost, that they do not know where it was and that it accompanied them for a while.”
According to Astrid Cáceres, director of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, an entity that watches over children’s rights, The minors indicated that they had encountered a “puppy” in the jungle, without specifying if this was Wilson.
Added to this clue is that the military claims to have “found footprints that would be of the minors and very close also those that might be of the dog“.
During a visit to the children in the hospital of the commander of the armed forces, Helder Fernán Giraldo Bonilla, the girls Lesly and Soleiny gave him some drawings that appear to be of the dog Wilson.
A reminder of the “immense effort of our soldiers and of our #Amigode4patas Wilson” who will not “be left behind”, reaffirms the Army.
