The video shows a Coast Guard boat on 5-foot waves, trying to stabilize the rustic vessel and complete the transfer of migrants on board, they had found ten. Another 18 floated adrift.

They located them on Monday at 8:40 in the morning, thanks to a Samaritan. They were about 6 miles south of Key Bone. There were 29 in total, one of them has not yet appeared.

“If you look at the video – this officer tells us – the sea conditions were critical enough for commercial boats, including our launches. Imagine the impact on this rustic boat then”

About the boat, only what is seen is known: baptized as “Aliusk”. The federal agency has not yet confirmed the nationality of the migrants or other details about the composition of the group. If they have said that two people had to receive specialized medical care.

Regarding the search for the missing person, the agency claims to have been using planes and boats since last night to monitor the current in the area.

With more frequency in recent months, the Florida Straits continues to add owners of damaged vessels, mostly Cubans.

In North American waters, federal agencies are reinforcing security in response to a serious increase in migration – especially of Cubans.

In six months of the fiscal year they have apprehended more than 5,800 on the high seas, the number will soon exceed the apprehensions for the entire fiscal year 2022.
