Somehow, the hitherto forgotten relationship of the rapper with the pop superstar, Jennifer Lopez, came to the fore again. Lopez and Sean Diddy were in a relationship between 1999 and 2001, after JLo divorced her first husband Ojani Noa, and before marrying her second husband, dancer Cris Judd.
“He gave me a lot and taught me even more,” Lopez once said of her ex. “There is still respect and admiration between us.”
A few days before, Diddy had declared that Lopez was, for him, the…undisputed winner of the “best butt contest”. His second choice would be, according to him, Kim Kardashian.
Things, however, were not always rosy in this relationship either. In fact, the pop star had at one point gotten into trouble while she was in a relationship with Sean Diddy.
Sean Diddy – When and Why He Was Arrested With ‘JLo’
In 1999, Diddy and Lopez were arrested on weapons and bribery charges. But what exactly had happened?
On December 27 of the same year, the two were having fun at Club New York. As they were leaving, Diddu ran into a man named Matthew “Scar” Allen. Allen fought back, leading to an altercation in which shots were fired. Three patrons of the club were injured.
Combs and Lopez left the scene in his car and were stopped after running a red light. Police found a gun in the car, which led to the couple’s arrest.

Detective Derrick Parker, now retired from the NYPD, was in the Midtown South division when they were brought in.
“There were all these high-profile lawyers barricaded in the department, waiting to talk to the duty officer,” he recalled to The Post. “They had JLo handcuffed to a post,” he claimed.
“He was crying everywhere in the department room,” a police source told the Daily News at the time. “She was just upset about the whole thing.”
Ultimately, Lopez was acquitted after allegedly being held for 14 hours. Combs was arraigned on two counts of possession of an unregistered weapon and attempted bribery for allegedly trying to get his bodyguard, Anthony Jones, to claim the gun was his.
Combs was later acquitted. However, his protégé Jamal “Shyne” Barrow – who was arrested with them – was convicted of two counts of assault, as well as dangerous exposure and possession of a weapon. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison. He served nine sentences before being deported to Belize, where he became a politician.
Jennifer Lopez on Sean Diddy: “He was the only man who cheated on me”
Despite her comments about “mutual respect and admiration,” Lopez revealed in a 2003 interview why she had split from Diddy and how devastated she had been.
Speaking to Vibe magazine, the star said: ‘It was the first time I’d ever been with someone who wasn’t faithful. I was in this relationship with Diddy where I was crying, I was going crazy, it really took over my whole life.”
It’s true that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is the Jeffrey Epstein of the Rap Industry.

However, despite the fact that he cheated on her, the accused criminal rapper continued to…claim Lopez years later.
When it was announced in 2020 that Lopez was back with Ben Affleck, Sean Diddy posted a photo on Instagram of himself walking hand-in-hand with the star.
Lopez had not commented on the incident. As for the latest developments regarding the rapper, the singer has also avoided making statements so far.
Sean Diddy: What the Rapper is Accused of – Why He Was Denied Bail – What He Answered
Sean Combs – also known as P Diddy and Puff Daddy – has been denied bail after pleading not guilty to three felony charges.
The charges came after the rapper and music mogul was arrested at a New York hotel on Monday, September 16.
Combs, a three-time Grammy winner and one of the most influential hip-hop producers of the past three decades, is facing a wave of lawsuits from women who have accused him of sexual assault.
Now, he faces a criminal trial after being denied $50m (£37.8m) bail.
What are the categories?
They relate to human trafficking, drug possession and firearms offences.
Specifically, there are three counts outlined by the Southern District of New York (SDNY) in a legal indictment:
- Conspiracy to extort
- Sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion
- Trafficking
The racketeering conspiracy carries a maximum sentence of life in prison. Sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. and transportation for the purpose of prostitution carries a maximum sentence of 10 years.
The indictment alleges that Combs “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation and conceal his conduct” since at least 2008.
It alleges that the 54-year-old used his employees, resources and influence in the music industry to create a “criminal enterprise whose members and associates engaged in and attempted to engage in, among other crimes, human trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery and obstruction of justice”.
According to the document, he allegedly lured female victims and male sex workers into drug-fueled sexual “performances” dubbed “Freak Offs.”
The Freak Offs, mentioned in the document about 16 times, were described as “sexual performances that Combs arranged, directed, masturbated during, and often electronically taped.”
Prosecutors allege the victims were drugged during the “performances” – which sometimes lasted for days – to keep them “submissive” while Combs subjected them to “physical, emotional and verbal abuse”.
Combs and his victims were reportedly so exhausted after these sessions that “they routinely received IV fluids to recover from physical fatigue and drug use.”
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
After his arrest, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, said he was “disappointed” with the decision “to continue what we believe is an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs by the US Attorney’s Office.”
“Didi’s not a perfect person but he’s not a criminal,” he continued.
“To his credit, Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week pending these charges.
“Please reserve judgment until you have all the facts. These are the actions of an innocent man who has nothing to hide and is looking forward to clearing his name in court.”
Speaking to reporters after Combs entered his plea, the lawyer added: “I feel confident. We’re going to get Mr. Combs out of jail.”
