Maithé Rivera, Sean Dhondt’s girlfriend, gave birth to their first child on Wednesday. The girl was named Mae, the couple announced on Instagram.

Our hearts are full, it sounds on Instagram. At the end of February, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child. They had known since March that it would be a girl. Then they had a ‘gender reveal party’, and also shared images of it on Instagram. “We couldn’t be happier,” it sounded when pink glitter flew out of their balloon.
Sean Dhondt’s life is also changing a lot in terms of work, because he will soon be starting work at Play Nostalgie. On that radio station, the happy dad was also allowed to explain his brand-new fatherhood on Thursday afternoon. “Everyone is doing very well. Maithé, the mother, has done a great job. And Mae has been very well-behaved so far, very quiet. She actually looks like she’s ready for a photo shoot,” the happy father jokes.
The birth went smoothly, Dhondt explained. “It was magical. I was even allowed to cut the umbilical cord. That is indescribable. I still find it a bit surreal that I am now a father. It still has to sink in that the child that is lying here is ours.”
Sean Dhondt would normally have started work at his new workplace next Monday, but he is first taking two weeks of well-deserved paternity leave. After that, he will present on the radio station in the morning between 10 and 13:00.
