Seal breaks into New Zealand home, shocking family cat

Seal stormed a curious young man New Zealand houseteasing the family cat and hanging out in the hallway for a few hours.

The Ross family received an unexpected visitor on Wednesday morning. Phil Ross is a marine biologist at the University of Waikato. He and his wife Jane have two children, Noah and Ari, and live just over 164 meters from shore where they often see seals, especially at this time of year.

The seal entered through one of the family’s cat plates, either on the garage door or through the front door.

Just before six in the morning, Jane left to go to the gym.

“When I got in the car, something barked underneath and drove away. I thought it was someone’s dog, but I didn’t give it much thought. Phil explained.

When she returned an hour later, she opened the door to find The new pet for the family– “Pretty little seal. »

“I got a little scared and walked through the guest bedroom door. »

I imagine she took a pass on the seals, which didn’t come back down, then chased them around the side of the house and Through two cats floating, to the garage then down to the bottom of our house . Phil explained to FOX 9 in an email. “Coco hid in the neighbour’s house and wouldn’t come back until the seal was gone. Then the next day she didn’t go down to where the seal was. We didn’t see the seal/cat interaction, but that was clearly something Coco didn’t appreciate”

The seal was captured by the ranger to bring it back to sea safely.

“Jane, my wife, is very calm in these situations and handled the situation perfectly,” he continued.

Phil said the seal was safely brought back to a local estuary.

“It is very common for baby seals to end up abnormally parts of the coast At this time of year.
