Seagate has announced that it will introduce next-generation products in its HDD lineup in mid-2023.
The news was revealed during the earnings announcement of Seagate CEO David Mosley while the foreign press Wccftech reported. Seagate is preparing to release an HDD with 30TB+ capacity in 2023, and some roadmaps say that it plans to release 50TB+ capacity following 2026.
Some foreign media who heard the news mentioned that it was because of the HAMR graft that Seagate was able to release such a high-capacity HDD. HAMR is known as the latest technology that uses a laser only at the moment of recording data.
However, HDDs over 30TB are expected to be released at a slightly higher price than conventional HDDs as HAMR with high technical difficulty is applied.
